Position: CREW LEADER I - PRT - ROCK HILL SPORTS AND EVENT CENTER (JOB NO. 251920)

Minimum Training & Experience
Graduation from high school and considerable experience in laboring work, including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance, repair, construction, indoor maintenance and care.  The equivalent combination of education, training and related work experience may be considered.
 
A valid South Carolina Driver’s License is required.
Desirable Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge of the types and uses of common hand tools, materials, and standard equipment used in general maintenance, construction, and repair.
 
Knowledge of the precautions necessary to work safely with and around mechanized equipment.
 
Ability to lead and instruct unskilled and semiskilled workers.
 
Willingness and ability to perform manual tasks involving physical strength and endurance under variable weather conditions.
 
Ability to maintain positive customer-focused relationships with co-workers, supervisors, agencies, the general public, and all other internal/external customers.  Personally demonstrates appropriate customer service skills.
Specific Duties
Supervises and participates as a member of the indoor maintenance crew.
 
Organizes set-up/break-down of events and rentals.
 
Oversees and participates in the layout, preparation and maintenance of indoor courts and facilities.
 
Operates trucks, tractors, mowers, and related indoor/outdoor maintenance equipment. 
 
Plants and cares for trees, shrubs, and any other outdoor vegetation as necessary. 
 
Performs routine maintenance on tools and equipment. 
 
Confers with supervisor on new or revised work projects; assists in the preparation of cost estimates.
 
Analyzes problems that arise on the job and recommends solutions.
 
Assists Division staff members, other divisions/departments and other agencies with the planning, set-up, clean-up and execution of events.
 
Coordinates the activities and preparation of athletic courts, buildings and other City facilities for programs, special events and tourism related events with internal and external representatives.
 
Schedules crew for day-to-day operations.
 
Develops the on-call schedules for weekly and weekend workers.
 
Keeps track of time-off and oversees time cards submitted.
 
Handles routine facility inspections on a weekly basis.
 
Performs all other duties as may be assigned to meet organizational needs.
