Minimum Training & Experience

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in parks, recreation, and tourism management, business, public administration, or related field supplemented by six to nine years of progressively responsible administrative experience, preferably in the leisure industry. The equivalent combination of education and related work experience may be considered.

Must possess the ability to secure national certification as a Certified Park and Recreation Professional, First Aid and CPR certifications.

Must possess a valid state driver’s license.

Note: Evening and Weekend Work Required

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Considerable knowledge of tournament preparations.

• Considerable knowledge of facility maintenance including basic construction.

• Knowledge of proper English usage, vocabulary, punctuation, spelling, and basic mathematics.

• Computer skills, including the use of Word and Excel.

• Ability to safely and effectively use a variety of maintenance equipment and machinery.

• Ability to communicate and present ideas effectively, orally and in writing, and to keep accurate records and prepare reports.

• Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize daily assignments and work activities.

• Ability to identify, support, and promote department-level partnerships.

• Ability to maintain positive customer-focused relationships with co-workers, supervisors, agencies, the general public, and all other internal and external customers. Personally demonstrates appropriate customer service skills.

Specific Duties

• Maintains tournament quality facilities at the Rock Hill Sports and Event Center.

• Supervises teams of maintenance crews—instructing, planning, assigning, and reviewing the work of others.

• Plans and manages the Rock Hill Sports and Event Center maintenance budget.

• Ensures compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, regulations, and standards of quality and safety.

• Provides technical assistance to Division Supervisors, Operations Supervisor and Department Director in formulating policies, long-range plans, and needs assessments.

• Works with various City departments and citizen-driven committees as assigned.

• Exercises initiative, independent judgment, and discretion in handling duties.

• Performs all other duties as may be assigned to meet organizational needs.
