Minimum Training & Experience

Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent level of college or university courses with major coursework in Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, or Marketing is preferred or experience working in a Technology Incubator or an Accelerator setting. Experience with sponsorships and/or fundraising development; Corporate and major gift cultivation/solicitation. The equivalent combination of education, training and related work experience may be considered

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Knowledge of the latest social media trends and tools, backend website management, website development, Google analytics, and Microsoft Office as well as the ability to manage those sites via updates and campaigns.

• Skilled in WordPress or closely related content management system.

• Skilled in project management. • Ability to be self-sufficient and take lead on major projects.

• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing as well as pay close attention to detail

• Ability to use database software to locate records, sort, review edit, print and other functions; experience using built-in forms and reports in a database, and analyzing data effectively to improve programs.

• Ability to plan, organize and coordinate community events with enthusiasm.

• Ability to maintain positive customer-focused relationships with co-workers, supervisors, agencies, the general public, and all other internal and external customers. Personally demonstrates appropriate customer service skills.

Specific Duties

• Coordinate overall operations of the Rock Hill Venture Mentoring Service (VMS) team-mentoring program for entrepreneurs.

• Assist the Director and the Rock Hill Entrepreneurship Committee (RHEDC) with refining the business plan for implementing the initial Pilot Program, and then for the full “scaled up” VMS operations in the second year.

• Provide direct assistance to entrepreneurs by making appropriate referrals and offering. resources, and conducting follow-up as required.

• Perform scheduling of all entrepreneur mentoring meetings.

• Plan and set agendas for monthly mentor meetings.

• Monitor mentor-entrepreneur relationships and engagements.

• Collect and track participant feedback, metrics, and progress of all ventures.

• Collect, track and compile program performance metrics.

• Monitor and update all VMS processes and procedures as required.

• Plan and coordinate all entrepreneurial special events (demonstrations, meetups, pitch competitions etc.).

• Schedule and coordinate pro bono office Hours” for entrepreneurs.

• Plan and coordinate educational programs (i.e., Boot Camps and related).

• Screen both entrepreneurs and mentors for inclusion in the program.

• Prepare quarterly performance reports and submit to City Council.

• Prepare Annual reports and submit to City Council and to MIT.

• Work with the City grants staff to identify and pursue appropriate funding opportunities.

• Oversee the updating of the Rock Hill VMS website by student interns.

• Coordinate communication efforts to increase the public exposure of the program to entrepreneurs.

• Oversee the social media activities managed by college student interns.

• Coordinate VMS program finances in conjunction with Economic Development (EUD) Finance Manager.
