Position: CREW WORKER I - HOUSING AUTHORITY

Minimum Training & Experience

Completion of high school and six months in general labor work. The equivalent combination of education, training and related work experience may be considered.

Must have a valid S.C. driver's license.

 

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Some knowledge of the tools used in maintenance and construction.

• Some knowledge of the precautions necessary to work safely with and around mechanized equipment.

• Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.

• Ability and willingness to perform manual tasks involving physical strength and endurance under variable weather conditions.

• Ability to maintain positive customer-focused relationships with co-workers, supervisors, agencies, the general public, and all other internal and external customers. Personally demonstrates appropriate customer service skills.

Specific Duties

• Performs manual labor of unskilled and limited semiskilled tasks of a physically demanding nature.

• Works as a member of a building and grounds maintenance crew; paints, rakes leaves, cuts lawns, and prunes shrubs.

• Removes trash and debris from grounds and housing units.

• Performs general grounds keeping work, included but not limited to mowing grass, installing landscape materials, watering plants and lawns, trimming hedges and pruning shrubs and trees, edging sidewalks and driveways, removing weeds and applying mulch to planting beds.

• Assists employees of higher classifications in the completion of assigned tasks.

• Performs general custodial duties in and around assigned buildings and grounds.

• Performs all other duties as may be assigned to meet organizational needs.
