Position: CUSTOMER SERVICE CLERK I - FINANCE - CENTRAL COLLECTIONS
  Salary: $14.51-$21.04 Per Hour

Minimum Training & Experience

A high school diploma and three years experience as a cashier, or bank teller. The equivalent combination of education, training and related work experience may be considered.

 

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
• Knowledge of business English, spelling, arithmetic.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to make routine arithmetical computations accurately and with reasonable speed.
• Ability to make and implement recommendations for enhancements to department’s productivity
• Ability to operate Window-based applications on a personal computer, a cash drawer, calculating machine, and other standard office equipment.
• Ability to maintain positive customer-focused relationships with co-workers, supervisors, agencies, the general public, and all other internal and external customers. Personally demonstrates appropriate customer service skills.

Specific Duties

• Collects payments and issues receipts for utilities, miscellaneous receivables, taxes, and business licenses; collects utility payments in a separate drawer; must balance both drawers daily.
• Receives payments from walk-in traffic, mail, and depository.
• Assists in the customer notification and collection of returned checks.
• Initiates and files daily reports related to receipts and drawer activity.
• Participates in after-hour rotation at drive-through window [from 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.].
• Sorts and files correspondence and documents; pulls files as needed; maintains a record of files pulled.
• Prepares monthly collections reports and maintains complex records.
• Provides general information to the public.
• Performs all other duties as may be assigned to meet organizational needs.
