Minimum Training & Experience

A bachelor's degree in recreation, parks administration or a related field and two years of supervisory or management experience.  Professional certification by the National Recreation and Parks Association or the ability to attain certification during the introductory period is preferred. The equivalent combination of related training and experience may be considered.

Knowledge of the terminology and various professional languages used within the department.
Knowledge of and skill in the use of computers for word processing and records management.

Ability to read and interpret complex materials pertaining to the responsibilities of the job.

Specific Duties
Supervises the daily operation and maintenance of a recreation center ensuring compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, regulations and standards of quality and safety.
Supervises the work of subordinate staff, including but not limited to: assigning, reviewing and planning work of staff; coordinating activities; selecting new employees; appraising work of staff.
Reviews work of staff for completeness and accuracy.
Works directly with event rights-holders from recruitment, contractual arrangements, event preparation and marketing, event implementation, analysis and reporting/follow-up.
Assists in the preparation of the departmental budget using Excel and Microsoft Word.  
Assists with the marketing and public relations for PRT sports tourism venues.
Assists with tourism/sports tourism related hospitality events.
Nationwide travel to annual tourism/sports tourism trade shows to recruit tourism/sports tourism events to Rock Hill.
Recruits and coordinates the work of volunteers.
Compiles and/or tracks center’s statistical information (i.e., cost to serve, participation reports, time cards, etc.) and prepares related reports.
Manages daily cash flow and large event revenues.
Oversees maintenance of the facility.
Performs all other duties as may be assigned to meet organizational needs.
