Minimum Training & Experience

Graduation from a four-year college or university with major course work in marketing, communications or business administration is preferred, along with 2-3 years marketing experience. The equivalent combination of education, training and related work experience may be considered.

NOTE: Some travel is required

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Considerable knowledge in the use of specialized computer programs such as Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign to be used in the creation of advertising graphics and layouts for social media, print, digital ad campaigns, and websites.

• Knowledge of the latest social media trends and tools, backend website management, website development, Google analytics, and Microsoft office as well as the ability to manage those sites via updates and campaigns.

• Knowledge of media relations and the management of communications between the organization and various media outlets.

• Ability to clearly communicate, orally and in writing; particularly in areas such as newsletters, speeches, news releases, conferences, and reports.

• Ability to meet, network and deal successfully with the public, media and business representatives.

• Ability to build rapport, convince and persuade to establish and maintain business relationships.

• Ability to identify, participate in, support and promote marketing partnerships.

• Ability to carry assignments to completion through the formulation of creative solutions.

• Ability to work quickly and accurately under deadline pressure.

• Ability to maintain positive customer-focused relationships with co-workers, supervisors, agencies, the general public, and all other internal and external customers. Personally demonstrates appropriate customer service skills.

Specific Duties

• Assists with planning, creating, conducting and scheduling marketing initiatives designed to build community and tourism interest in parks, recreation and tourism programs, events and facilities.

• Manage, update, and engage on social media accounts for all PRT led initiatives. Compile performance reports as requested.

• Coordinate PRT participation and attend sports marketing conferences to build relationships and recruit events to PRT facilities. Some overnight travel required.

• Manage and update PRT led websites. Assist with development and management of additional websites as needed. Compile performance reports as requested.

• Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with print and broadcast media. Coordinate interviews, press conferences and act as PRT spokesperson.

• Maintain and expand PRT library of photos and videos for promotional, historical and other uses.

• Coordinates the creative production of printed publications; writes copy for and directs the layout of informational materials such as newsletters, press releases, pamphlets, directories and posters.

• Acts as a PRT representative during community projects and various public, social, and business gatherings. •Serve as staff liaison for various PRT, City, and community led committees, organizations, and teams.

• Exhibits considerable proficiency in creative writing, editing, and preparation of multi-media materials.

• Promotes goodwill through public speaking, exhibits, films, tours, and question/answer sessions.

• Coordinates designated special events or projects.

• Performs other related work as required.
