Position: GRAPHIC DESIGNER / MARKETING COORDINATOR – ECONOMIC & URBAN DEVELOPMENT
  Salary: $18.52-$26.85 Per Hour

Minimum Training & Experience

Graduation from a four-year college or university with major course work in graphic design, marketing or business administration is preferred, along with 2-3 years graphic design experience. The equivalent combination of education, training and related work experience may be considered.  

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Knowledge of media relations and the management of communications between the organization and various media outlets.

• Knowledge of the latest social media trends and tools, backend website management, website development, Google analytics, and Microsoft office as well as the ability to manage those sites via updates and campaigns.

• Proficiency in the use of specialized computer programs such as Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign to be used in the creation of advertising graphics and layouts for social media, print, digital ad campaigns, as well as EUD brand websites.

• Ability to clearly communicate, orally and in writing; particularly in areas such as newsletters, speeches, news releases, conferences, and reports.

• Ability to meet and deal successfully with the public, media and business representatives.

• Ability to identify, participate in, support and promote marketing partnerships.

• Ability to carry assignments to completion through the formulation of creative solutions.

• Ability to work quickly and accurately under deadline pressure.

• Ability to maintain positive customer-focused relationships with co-workers, supervisors, agencies, the general public, and all other internal and external customers. Personally demonstrates appropriate customer service skills.

Specific Duties
• Plans, creates, conducts, and schedules marketing campaigns and budgets designed to build community interest and support for various economic development initiatives. Tracks and monitors expenses as incurred. 
 
• Manage, update, and engage on social media accounts for all Old Town and RHEDC led initiatives. 
 
• Compile analytic and performance reports for marketing campaigns, web performance and social media: use reports to influence future decision making. 
 
• Directs the creative production of printed publications; writes copy for and directs the layout of informational materials such as newsletters, press releases, pamphlets, directories and posters.
 
• Exhibits considerable proficiency in creative writing, editing, and preparation of multi-media materials.
 
• Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with print and broadcast media.
 
• Promotes goodwill through public speaking, exhibits, films, tours, and question/answer sessions.
 
• Acts as a representative of the City during community projects and various public, social, and business gatherings.
 
• Serve as staff liaison for various EUD, City, and community led committees, organizations, and teams
 
• Develop, manage, update, and trouble shoot multiple EUD led websites. Assist with development and management of additional websites related to economic development initiatives as needed. 
 
• Manages the consistency and accuracy of Old Town and RHEDC brands.
 
• Coordinates designated ceremonies, press conferences, and other events or special projects.
 
• Solicits proposals, works with vendors, and manages budgets, billing and contracts for goods, merchandise and services.
 
• Participates in planning, management and implementation of a full range of Old Town festivals and events.  
 
• Performs other related work as required.
