Position: ELECTRONIC SERVICE TECHNICIAN II - UTILITIES - PLANT MAINTENANCE
  Salary: $21.44 - $31.08 Per Hour

Minimum Training & Experience

High school diploma supplemented by courses in industrial electricity/electronics and three to five years of experience in skilled electrical work in a water or wastewater treatment plant. The equivalent combination of education and related work experience may be considered.

A valid Driver's License is required and a water or wastewater treatment operator’s license is preferred.

NOTE: ON-CALL DUTY IS REQUIRED ON A ROTATING BASIS; OCCASIONAL WEEKEND, AND HOLIDAY WORK IS REQUIRED

 

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Knowledge of standard industrial electric practices, methods, tools, and materials used in industrial electrical construction and maintenance work.

• Knowledge of SCADA design and operation.

• Knowledge of the hazards of the trade and of appropriate precautionary measures.

• Knowledge of the municipal electrical code provisions.

• Knowledge of electrical control panels and the ability to test through the use of volt meters, ammeters, process meters, and other testing devices.

• Skilled in the use and care of tools, materials, and equipment as it pertains to the electrical trade.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

• Ability to detect flaws or defects in electrical control systems and equipment and to make necessary repairs.

• Ability to interpret motor control schematics, diagnose problems, and implement repairs.

• Ability to troubleshoot PLC’s, understand ladder logic, and have a familiarity with PLC software.

• Ability to work from diagrams and blueprints and understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.

• Knowledge of fiber optics and network cabling and terminations.

• Ability to maintain positive customer-focused relationships with co-workers, supervisors, agencies, general public, and all other internal and external customers. Personally demonstrates appropriate customer service skills.

Specific Duties

• Practices Electrical Safety in the Workplace, NFPA70E

• Performs electrical preventative maintenance to electrical equipment.

• Operates maintenance equipment, trenchers, bucket trucks, and concrete saws.

• Operates, maintains, and installs equipment in water and wastewater treatment facilities.

• Makes repairs to, or installs electrical control panels, instrumentation, SCADA panels, medium- and low-voltage pump control panels, AC and/or DC Drives, facility lighting, etc.

• Maintains stock on utility truck; cleans and makes minor repairs on equipment and tools; prepares job reports and time sheets.

• Performs all other duties as may be assigned to meet organizational needs.
