Position: CUSTOMER SERVICE CLERK I - FINANCE - CENTRAL COLLECTIONS
  Salary: $14.51-$21.04 Per Hour

Minimum Training & Experience

Graduation from high school and two years of customer service and collections. Experience in customer service and delinquent or non-compliance collections methods is desirable.

Requires a valid South Carolina driver’s license or the ability to obtain one within thirty days of hire.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Knowledge of standard office procedures and practices.

• Knowledge of business letter writing and standard format for typed materials.

• Knowledge of advanced personal computer and Microsoft Office applications.

• Ability to do business arithmetic computations accurately.

• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

• Ability to perform basic accounting and financial recordkeeping entries.

• Ability to use initiative and sound independent judgment within established guidelines.

• Ability to read interpret and apply laws, rules and regulations.

• Ability to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including co-workers, supervisors, businesses, the general public, and all other internal and external customers using appropriate customer service skills.

• Ability to organize, prepare and maintain accurate revenue, customer service and related records.

• Ability to prioritize work and coordinate activities.

Specific Duties

• Perform field investigations, audits and collection related to City customer accounts, business licenses, and hospitality/accommodations tax.

• Perform both field and office duties related to the investigation and collection of accounts.

• Research and resolve delinquent account issues; prepare letters regarding complaints, delinquencies and non-compliant City accounts; audit customer records to verify fee calculation; coordinate with various departments on the collection of unpaid invoices.

•May accompany building Code Enforcement Officers to construction sites to ensure business licensing compliance.

• Interpret and enforce municipal code and state laws regarding business licensing, miscellaneous, utility, hospitality and accommodations tax accounts.

• Maintain accurate records and prepare reports and other required documents using a personal computer.

• Perform accounts management, customer service, cashier and other related duties as needed.

• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required and assigned.
