Minimum Training & Experience

A Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Sport Management or related field of study with one year of experience in recreation programming, cycling instruction and event planning. The equivalent combination of education, training and related work experience may be considered.

Note: Evening and weekend work required.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Thorough knowledge as it relates to areas of bicycle programming, event planning, marketing, community relations, and administration.

• Knowledge of the principles of program coordination, organization and administration.

• Knowledge of modern office practices and technology; knowledge of proper English usage, vocabulary, spelling, and basic mathematics.

• Ability to assign, direct, and supervise seasonal staff and volunteers.

• Ability to inspect facilities, grounds, and equipment and make necessary repairs.

• Ability to react calmly and quickly in emergency situations.

• Ability to prepare required reports accurately and in a timely manner.

• Ability to maintain positive customer-focused relationships with co-workers, supervisors, agencies, the general public, and all other internal and external customers. Personally demonstrates appropriate customer service skills.

Specific Duties

• Coordinates and leads velodrome programs, clinics, school fieldtrips, and special events at the Rock Hill Outdoor Center’s cycling facilities with an emphasis on velodrome programming and special events.

• Coordinates seasonal staff and volunteers related to cycling facilities, races, programs and special events.

• Develops programming, partnerships, special-events and community outreach opportunities.

• Manages opening and closing of facilities including evenings and weekends.

• Makes recommendations on equipment needs, facility improvements and maintenance.

• Assist in hosting regional, national and international events.

• Compiles daily, weekly, monthly and annual membership, usage and financial reports.

• Provides staff support to various committees, commissions, and other groups as required.

• Participates in cross training opportunities and performs all other duties as may be assigned to meet organizational needs.
